A vortex of nerdiness

So the Wizard interview Andy did came out last week, right? And then Brian Wood posted it in his flickerstream ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/brianwood/447330627/), which then made it to Warren Ellis' blog (www.warrenellis.com - scroll down, it might still be there). And now we're posting those mentions here, because, yeah, we are that fucking nerdy.

The point is, we're mentioning that they mentioned that Andy mentioned them.

Awesome.

The world is backwards and mixed up and insane.

In other news, thanks to everyone who's emailed and sent samples. We're always looking for more artists for new projects and pin-ups and all that shit, so please, if you think you've got what we need, email us at letterbombstudios@gmail.com.

In other other news, Matt & I (Tyler) had a grandiose discussion the other day involving something about robots, aliens, the ocean, whales and bioluminescence. This may or may not be something that you will be into. The future shall reveal the truths of the infinite.

Post Collapse, blah blah blah, it's coming. Consider this: actual US government wargames scenarios have shown that if the United States were to be stricken with a pandemic disease right now, there would be chaos and death on an absolutely incomprehensible scale. That is to say, we would be totally fucked. Insert various facts and supporting evidence here. I'm going to bed.

Way overdue update.

Hey America, it's me, Tyler.

Sorry for the super long lag between posts, but it's been a busy few months. We've been working with some artists, looking at samples and trying to get a feel for what style is best for Post Collapse. So if any of you illustrator types feel like you've got what we need, by all means, email us at letterbombstudios@gmail.com.

We've also been throwing around ideas, hatching schemes and laying the groundwork for a couple new Letterbomb properties - none of which are at the point right now where I can drop science on them, but keep your eyes open...shit is happening.

Finally, look for Andy talkin' all smart-like in Wizard this month. He's featured in a *brand new* column called "Celebrity Fanboy." He also plugs Post Collapse, in a addition to some comic all stars (that you should already know and love, and if you don't GET ON THAT SHIT).

So yeah, that's it for now.

ONE.

PS - speaking of things entitled Wizard, here's a little piece of trivia for you: did you know that Toby McGuire has a 6-second non-speaking role in the 1989 feature film The Wizard starring Fred Savage? Awesome.

002 More origin ass

Hey everyone, this is Mixon, another 3rd of letterbomb. Thanks a ton for checking this thing out. We're hoping it can eventually serve as an interactive forum for fans of Post Collapse and Letterbomb. Until then we're going to post about the process and give you an inside look at what its like to create something like this from scratch. If you're reading this I'd say we're off to a good start.

Anyway. I've known Tyler and Hurley for years. Tyler and I became friends in high school where we frequently attended a lot of the same shitty high school band shows. A few years later, Hurley and I met at the first practice for this band we did together for a while. I've been close friends with both of them for years.

A little over a year ago, Tyler and Hurley were talking a lot about putting out a book together that Tyler was writing. For one reason or another it fell through. They started talking about trying another project this last fall; somehow, thankfully I was included.

We started with pretty much nothing. We just brainstormed ideas a few times until we came up with one we liked. With the exception of Tyler's first two projects, none of us had ever embarked on anything like this before, so thinking back I'm pretty siked about how far we've come. I'm not sure how qualified we are (one of us has an English degree, one of us has a Journalism degree, and one of us is a Millionaire), but we don't really give a shit. We're fake grownups who keep it nerdy and DIY till we die.

This is Letterbomb. Stay tuned.

001: Testing, testing...

1, 2. 1, 2. This is it, son. Letterbomb Studios is fully active. A plan 2 years in the making, up and running and ready to blow up the world.
Lemme give you the backstory quick: I (this is Tyler on the mic), came out of college with a degree in English, 4 bookshelves full of books, 15 short boxes of comics, a shitload of cds and no goddamn job. Matt followed soon after with pretty similar stats (a degree in Broadcast Journalism, though).
2 motherfuckers with bullshit jobs and no future. So I started writing comics for shits...and nothing came of it, mostly cos I can't draw for shit and nobody gives 2 about one more hack writer in the comics world.
Anyway. We gots friends in high places, though - friends who love comics and look out for bros (namely one Andrew J.H.). So Matt and I cobbled together some aspects of our sundry interests and shat out a couple ideas, proposed a plan for a comic/multimedia studio, brought it to said friends and bam, here's Letterbomb. Our main focus these days is a comic entitled Post Collapse - a story about a meth head facing the fall of human civilization. We hope to put it out by the summer, provided all things go as planned.
Matt, Andy and I will update this piece as much as we can, keeping you up to date on the latest Post Collapse news, as well as any upcoming projects we might be working on - all things Letterbomb.
